Full abdominoplasty surgeries last between 2 to 5 hours. Mini abdominoplasty surgeries last in 1-2 hours. Generally, an incision line is cut between hipbones just over crotches. A second incision is cut around the abdomen to release abdominal area from the surrounding tissues. In mini abdominoplasty surgeries, the incision line is smaller without a need for repositioning the belly. After the skin is repositioned upwards above the underneath abdominal muscle up to rib cage, the abdominal muscles are brought together. Therefore, abdominal wall becomes harder enabling a thinner belly line. Finally, the repositioned skin is pulled down and the extra skin is removed. After the abdominal skin is tightened, a new belly button is cut. Abdomen is placed in this part and stitched. The surgery is completed after stitching the incision line, preparing adhesive wound dressing and placing temporary tubes to remove liquid from the body.

The incision scars are permanent but they will look more natural in time. Medical dressing is recommended in the initial period. Corsets are recommended to support your abdomen.

The effect of arm sagging which occur because of aging and loss of sensitivity and natural thickness of the skin increase as the fat, muscle and bone tissue under the skin gets thinner. Dermis which is composed of elastic fibers in the skin normally consist 3% or 4% percent of inner layer but the ratio becomes less due to aging causing the skin lose its elasticity. The faster the effect, the saggier the skin due to gravity. Brachioplasty reduces excess sagging skin that droops downward.
In cases when the skin quality of the patient is good with low sagging, there are generally fat accumulation problems which can be easily removed with liposuction. If there is saggy skin in addition to excess fat tissue, liposuction will not create successful results without brachioplasthy. Brachioplasthy surgeries which can be operated with general anesthesia due to the patient and problem is the procedure of excision of excess fat tissue and skin with incisions from back and front of the arm. Liposuction can be combined with brachioplasthy for more aesthetic results.
The incisions which were cut to remove saggy parts of the arm are stitched in two layers. The operation is completed after medical dressing of the arm. The patient is free to leave hospital just a few hours after brachioplasthy surgery. Bandages are opened and surgery region is checked the following day of the operation. The patient is recommended to wear a special arm corset for 3 days and avoid continuously putting their arms down. There are no specific precautions in the post-surgery phase of brachioplasty. Although, the surgery seems simple, clinic and plastic surgeon must be selected carefully for a faster recovery.
Liposuction is a type of cosmetic surgery that removes fat from the human body in an attempt to change its shape. Liposuction is generally used to remove excess fat in hips, thighs, and abdomen. It is rarely used for arms, knees, body, back, breasts, neck and gills. Fat tissues were shaped with surgical incisions until twenty years ago. Patients suffered from the scars of the incisions then. Removing fat with vacuum with small incisions in order to firm the body broke the ground in plastic surgery field. A method without incisions and scars satisfied both doctors and patients.
The first step of liposuction is consulting a plastic surgeon. The patients must clearly define their expectations about their physical appearance and psychology. Keep in mind that the desired result is not perfection but recovery.
Emotional balance is the most important factor that must be determined before any surgical attempts. Liposuction can reshape your body but it cannot change your life style. Aesthetic surgery can change your look and refresh your self-confidence but the rest depends on you.
Liposuction is not a cure for obesity nor weight loss that can be achieved by diet or exercise. It is an appropriate surgical technique for carefully evaluated and selected cases. Your surgeon may offer you another surgery in which skin and fat tissue is cut and removed rather than liposuction (Dermolipectomy).
The secret under the success of the liposuction in body firming is removing some of the fat receptors together with fat cells (50%) so that there will not be excess fat in these body parts. Whilst planning body shaping, all regional excess fat must be evaluated. The most successful approach is including all these regions in the liposuction plan. Otherwise, the fat which will be removed from one or two will cause excess fat in other four regions.
Your surgeon will inform you on special details of the surgery such as anesthesia, hospital and real success of the surgery in addition to surgery technique. Discuss additional factors such as risks and price of the surgery with your plastic surgeon before you decide for liposuction.
You must be informed on possible risks of the surgery and special problems of liposuction (i.e. sometimes a second surgery is required for case who have severe fat excess.) Post-surgical complications such as Infection and localized hemostasis are rare and they can be treated. Complications can be minimized by following your surgeon's recommendation in the recovery period.
Injecting special chemicals of one to five liters according to patient's weight, we break the fat tissue before removing them with a special vacuum using superwet technique. The technique enables liposuction of fat tissues which absorbed less blood.
Liposuction is ideal for patients whose weight and body shape are quite normal with disproportionate hips, thighs or waist. Excess fat in arms, calves, knees, breasts and gills are also removed with liposuction.
The content of the method depends on the desired changes and your surgeon's decisions. You can be operated as out-patient or in-patient in accordance with your surgeon's recommendation.
Medications are administered for your comfort during arm lift surgery. The choices include intravenous sedation and general anesthesia. Your doctor will recommend the best choice for you. Sedation is for your comfort during local anesthetic surgery. If you are being operated with general anesthesia, you will sleep during the surgery.
The surgery begins with an incision of approximately 0.5 mm to the target area for liposuction. Incision length and pattern during arm lift surgery depend on the amount and location of excess skin to be removed, as well as the best judgment of your plastic surgeon. Incisions are generally placed on the inside of the arm or on the back of the arm, depending on the surgeon’s preference, and may extend from the underarm (axilla) to just above the elbow. Excess fat may be directly excised or treated with liposuction. Depending on your specific condition, incisions may be more limited. Then, underlying supportive tissue is tightened and reshaped with internal sutures. Finally, the skin is smoothed over the new contour of your arm.
Your incisions will be closed either with absorbable sutures or stitches that will be removed within one to two weeks following your arm lift. During your recovery from arm lift surgery, dressings or bandages may be applied to your incisions, and your arms may be wrapped in an elastic bandage or a compression garment to minimize swelling following surgery. You will wear compression stockings for three weeks in order to minimize bruise and edema in the operated area. The duration of the procedure varies from 45 minutes to 2 hours in line with the content of the surgery.
After the surgery, you may have a dull ache which can be easily treated with pain killers. Jogging will decrease your complaints such as dull aches.
In-patients will stay in the hospital for a day although the duration can be more in some exceptions. Protective bandages are generally opened in the first week of the operation. Wear stretch stockings for 2 or 3 weeks. 5 or 10 sessions of physical treatment shall be helpful as of 6th day of the surgery. There will be a few bruises accompanied by edema. They will get well in 6 to 8 weeks.
Thigh and hip reduction surgery includes removing saggy skin and fat tissue in thighs and hips and reshaping them. Your surgeon may plan separate or combined surgeries. Liposuction can also be combined with these surgeries for better results. Whilst the scar of thigh reduction is hidden in inguinal region, it is in bikini region in hip reduction surgeries.
If thigh and hip reduction surgeries will be operated as single procedures then local anesthesia can be in question. Combined thigh and hip reduction surgeries generally operated using general anesthesia.
Drains can be replaced to surgical area in accordance with the plastic surgeons' preferences. The patient will stay in hospital for 2 or 3 days. The drains can stay two days to a week in line with plastic surgeon's preference. It is normal to feel a pain in surgical area but pain killers will be helpful in the early period. The patient who has trouble in walking in the first few days will easily walk as the pain disappears at the end of the first week. You can have a bath 2 days after the surgery. Physical activities are limited in the first two weeks. Patients can go back to their daily lives afterwards. Avoid sports and exercise for two months.
Hematoma is the most common complication following thigh and hip surgeries. Although it is rare, drainages shall be replaced to remove the blood out of the body. In some cases, Serotama can occur 1 or 2 weeks after the surgery. If the plastic surgeon deems necessary, the liquid can be taken from the body with an injector., Hematoma and Serotama are complications that can be avoided easily in case of a trustworthy relation between the plastic surgeon and the patient. Do not forget that smoking increases all kind of post-operational complication risks. Scars of thigh and hip reduction surgeries can get wider in time causing a negative appearance. The significance of the scars is different in each patient.
